I first noticed this event in the serpentineroad.com forums. A few of the local London skaters have attempted the London to Brighton BHF Bike ride on skates before, and it sounded like a 'fun jaunt' to the coast at the time. Of course, the week before the event itself, I was completely unprepared.

I figured it was about time to give my old favourite skates a bit of an overhaul, so they were treated to some new liners, ankle straps and shocks on top of the wheels & bearings I bought not long ago.

New wheels and bearings. The old ones were completely shagged, so this felt super smooth. I swear you need a lot less energy with a good setup.

Another self-present this weekend. Been after some of these badboys (the gloves) for ages for surf-style inline skating, but it was also so much fun on a skateboard, I went right back to the shop and bought carve trucks.
